From Elkin, you’ll enter at around Milepost 229, which is near Little Glade Mill Pond (MP 230) and Doughton Park (MP 238 to 241) to the south and Cumberland Knob (MP 217) to the north. This hiking trail follows Elkin Creek from the park to the Town of Elkin Reservoir, and it’s open to joggers, hikers, and cyclists.
It’s best known for the historic Reeves Theater, great microbreweries, Yadkin Valley wineries, and the US-21 Road Market. One of our favorite things about the town of Elkin is the sixth segment of the Mountains-to-Sea hiking trail, including the picturesque Carter Falls. It’s one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Western North Carolina. Charlotte's craft breweries, art museums, public parks, recreational activities, and varied neighborhoods make it a year-round destination, with over 50 million visitors annually.
